The digital business space is growing and will keep growing.
I am more specifically referring to (Information Product Businesses selling Courses, Ebooks, & Downloads). Learning how to get better at not just creating your products but selling those products and targeting them to a specific audience is what will separate you from the unsuccessful.
The key to winning here is knowing the details of making, advertising, and selling your digital goods well.
📘 Create Better Products
Making a digital thing that sells starts with knowing your target people and what they need.
If you take the above line and use that in everything you do from here on out you will be better off than 99% of creators today. I believe everyone has good intentions when starting out but when you actually dive into a digital product and start putting it together is when the problems arise.
It is always more difficult than it seems at the beginning
Will people pay for this?
Is what I am asking worth it?
Look at the market to see what kind of digital things are wanted and how you can give something special. If you're a picture designer, think about making templates or settings that others can use in their own projects. For writers, eBooks or special guides could be your way to win. But making a thing isn't enough; it needs to be shiny and good. Spend time making your thing easy to use and nice to look at. Always remember, that quality is king in the digital market.
I always start with 4 main points in my product creation
How long do I want to spend on this?
How much will I charge? (Look at other creators and the value they provide) I also buy courses to see what others do/learn from.
Will this product provide at least 10x the asking price (if not then don’t launch it yet)
What will the main topic be (pick 1 main thing someone will learn as the focal point)
📈 Making Your Reach Bigger:
Once your thing is ready to sell, it's time to tell people about it. Good marketing is super important for the win of your digital stuff, and the right ways can make a big change in your sales.
Start by making a strong online face. You need a pro website or landing page that shows your thing nicely. (This does not need to cost a lot of money. I use Thrivecart which I paid 1x for to create landing pages and funnels (link below). If you expect someone to buy from you and you have a subpar page .. good luck.
Social media is another strong tool in your selling plan. Choose places where your target people are most active, and share fun stuff that leads them to your digital things. (I always say pick 1 network that aligns with you: If you like to write use X or linkedin, if you like video use Youtube or Instagram) Master that network then pick another one (I did not use every network until my 2nd year in as it was too overwhelming and I was giving out mediocre value)
Don't forget to use email selling; it is still one of the best ways to reach and talk to possible customers. Make an email list and send out regular letters with news, special offers, and useful info related to your area. (Just like this letter you are reading… you can do this for free at first and build a solid audience that will eventually buy your products or at last some of them will)
Finally, think about working with influencers or other businesses in your area to make your reach bigger. This can show your things to a bigger crowd and add truth to your brand. Always watch how your selling efforts are doing and be ready to change your ways as needed. Changing your plan based on what works will help you find and get more customers for your digital stuff.
🔗 Earning after the Launch ( Think Long-term)
After you start selling your digital thing, the job doesn't stop. To keep and grow your online business, you need to keep the energy going. Keep talking with your crowd by giving great customer help. Answer questions, fix problems fast, and get thoughts to make your offers better.
Making your product lineup bigger can also help in keeping customer interest and getting new ones. Think about adding matching things or updating old ones with new features or content. This not only shows that you're serious about giving worth but also helps in keeping your brand important in the always-changing digital market.
I like to create products with the intent of packaging them later on for a bundle deal.. The Academy is an example of this…
I created The Creator Content System first
Then I added the Digital Product System
Then I included the Growth System (a combination of my Tech- Stack)
All of that was pre planned as I wanted to offer it to you in 1 package vs. separate but I did not want to make the 1 course too long where people would not pay attention .
The best strategy I use that works and averages %5 sales is to keep it super simple
Include simple CTA’s at the end of each post you write (see below)
1 Link in Bio (not 2 or 3)
Link in bio goes directly to 1 page offer (not Link tree with 15+ links (too confusing)
Include Auto plugs on your social media posts daily linking to “1 offer” Not a bunch of offers (too confusing)
Remember people (You and I) are busy, our minds are moving too quickly, and we are distracted most of the time. It is easy to miss something and even easier to get bored. Keeping things short, targeted, and simple to understand is the best way to grow and make sales.
Lastly, keep an eye on industry trends and be ready to change your business plans as needed. Whether it's using new selling tricks, using new technologies, or looking at different sales places, staying informed and ready to change will help make sure your digital product business stays long and makes money.
